Many older people can find it difficult to rebuild their lives following the death of someone close. People can become lonely and socially isolated and would often like to meet other people to talk to and socialise with.

Cruse Bereavement Care recognises that after a significant bereavement it can be difficult to meet new people and take the steps forward to rebuild a new life. Following the success of our fortnightly Drop in groups Cruse Bristol will be offering a new support service .

Our new bereavement friendship group will :

• Provide a friendly and accessible place to meet new people and make new friendships

• Offer a safe space to talk with other people who have also been bereaved

• Offer social activities to help build confidence, reduce isolation and have fun

• Help to find out about things going on in the local community

The new bereavement friendship group will meet twice a month in an accessible central Bristol venue and will be facilitated by Cruse volunteers. The group will provide peer friendship and support but, it will not offer counselling. If bereavement support is still needed this can be offered through one of our other support services .

If anyone is interested in attending this new group, please contact Ed at Cruse Bereavement Care.
